Our apprentices at SONAMIA: two paths, one shared desire to learn

At SONAMIA, apprenticeships are much more than a training format: they are a real lever for knowledge transfer, learning and professional integration. Each year, we welcome apprentices into our teams with the aim of offering them a stimulating, educational and people-focused environment.

Today, we invite you to discover the background and experience of Melvin, an apprentice in maintenance, and Quentin, an apprentice in stock management. Two profiles, two roles, but the same desire to learn and get involved every day at SONAMIA.

🎤 Meet Melvin Vrignaud

Maintenance Technician Apprentice

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Melvin Vrignaud and I am currently studying for a BTS in Maintenance. I joined SONAMIA as an apprentice one year ago, for a total duration of two years.
Within the company, I hold the position of maintenance technician, which allows me to apply the skills acquired during my studies while discovering the day-to-day operations of an industrial company.

Did you know SONAMIA before applying?
I had already completed several internships at SONAMIA before applying for my apprenticeship. These experiences confirmed my choice, as they allowed me to see the richness of the missions offered and the excellent working atmosphere. I was therefore convinced that SONAMIA would be an ideal environment to develop my skills and continue my training.

What are your responsibilities?
At SONAMIA, my responsibilities are very diverse. As a maintenance technician, I work on different types of installations, particularly robotic stations. I take part in troubleshooting, adjustments and preventive maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment.
I am also required to repair mechanical parts by carrying out welding and general mechanical operations. This variety of tasks allows me to work across several fields.

What skills have you developed since the beginning of your apprenticeship?
The apprenticeship has helped me progress in several areas: I have developed a more professional way of communicating, I have been able to put into practice what I learn at school, and I have discovered things that are not covered in class. This makes my training more complete and helps me gain confidence.

How did your onboarding go?
My integration went very well. The team quickly made me feel comfortable, and I felt supported from the very beginning. I was able to take part in projects and gradually build my skills thanks to the support of my colleagues.

A memorable moment since you joined?
A memorable moment for me was the first time the team allowed me to operate a robot. I found it both very interesting and impressive. This experience really motivated me and made me want to learn even more.

What advice would you give to a future apprentice?
I would tell them not to hesitate at all. SONAMIA offers an environment where you can truly learn and put into practice the knowledge acquired at school. You are well supported while gradually gaining autonomy. It is an excellent opportunity to grow professionally.

I am currently studying for a TSMEL degree (Senior Technician in Logistics Methods and Operations), first year. I am an apprentice in the Stock Management department for a period of two years.

Did you know SONAMIA before applying?
I knew SONAMIA thanks to classmates who had completed internships here. I visited the company during open days and found it impressive, which made me want to apply.

What are your responsibilities?
My responsibilities involve carrying out projects within the warehouse to make the work easier for the order pickers on the ground, as well as learning how to manage teams.

What skills have you developed since the beginning of your apprenticeship?
Since the start of my apprenticeship (August 25, 2025), I have been trained in identifying product references. I have learned to work as part of a team, as well as to communicate effectively in order to understand others and make myself understood.

How did your onboarding go?
I was very well welcomed by the teams I work with, and the projects I am entrusted with suit me perfectly.

A memorable moment since you joined?
One thing that struck me when I joined the Stock Management / Receiving department was the good mood shared by everyone.

What advice would you give to a future apprentice?
I would say that you should not hesitate to apply to SONAMIA, and then see whether the company suits you. Personally, I did not expect to join a team that integrated me so well right away, and today I feel very comfortable here as an apprentice.
